The area of Cabo Frio was originally inhabited by the Tamoios. Cabo Frio is situated on a promontory on the south-eastern coast of Brazil just 150 km from Rio de Janeiro. To the east the promontory is beaten by the waves of the Atlantic Ocean while to the west it looks towards the Araruama Lagoon.

Cabo Frio is one of the main tourist polos of Brazil, its beautiful limpid water beaches, fine white sand, dunes that are a wonderful spectacle, islands of rare beauties, salt mines, coves, has everything for all the guests.
Currency
The Brazilian currency is the Real(hay-ahl), and Reais (hay-ice) for the plural. The symbol for the Real is R$.
